Numbers: Their Meaning And Magic, being an Enlarged and Revised Edition of "Numbers: their Magic and Mystery"

New York & London: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1927. First US Hardcover Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo.126pp. Red cloth gilt-lettered on spine & front board. Apparently the first US hardcover edition, following Australian and UK printings. The author, Isidore Kozminsky, was a well-known Melbourne (Australian) esotericist and jeweller and is reputed to have been the local representative of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn - or one of its offshoots. Unlikely as that may seem, his works reveal a very broad knowledge of esoteric literature, so it is perhaps not an impossibility. Contents: Foreword; Introduction; I. The Symbols And Meanings Of The Numbers; II. Numerical Value Of The Letters; III. The Quaballah Of Pythagoras; IV. How To Prophesy By Numbers; V. Arithmetical Divination VI. Good And Evil Days; VII. Good And Evil Days (Continued); VIII. Other Quaballahs; IX. Colours, Metals, And Gems In Harmony With The Numbers X. Conclusion. Cloth a bit rubbed and lightly faded, spine darkened and spine lettering quite dulled, light bruising and chafing to spine and corners, pages and page edges a bit browned, bookplate on front pastedown, text clean. Overall a tight, clean VG copy. No dust jacket. Item #64391
