The scarce first edition of this anonymously written manual. Despite its title, the book is actually written as a guide for anyone who wants to set themselves up as a (fake) medium, (fake) mind-reader, (fake) spirit consultant, or (fake) psychoanalyst. The great majority of the work is devoted to the author's observations on common human behaviour, the art of what is now called "cold reading" and how to effectively fool people that the "reader" has great insight into their lives.
