The Secrets of Dr. Taverner.

London: Noel Douglas, ND (1926). First Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 254pp. Light green cloth with black titling to spine, b&w illustrations. The first edition of this collection of eleven detective stories with occult themes. There are at least four known binding variants - this is the one with light green cloth (precedence of issue has not been established). From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Cloth a bit discoloured and darkened at spine and outer margins of boards, spine ends and corners lightly bumped and chafed with a small closed tear and chip at upper rear spine, slightly canted, page edges darkened, endpapers unevenly browned, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a solid, clean about VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #64803
