The Book of the Law [technically called Liber AL vel Legis sub Figura CCXX as delivered by XCIII=418 to DCLXVI].

York Beach, Maine USA: Samuel Weiser, Inc., 1989. Reprint. Softcover. Small octavo (6 7/16 x 4.7/8 inches) (ii) 50 + (68) pp (+viii blanks) Original bright red flexible wrappers with "THE BOOK / OF THE LAW" lettered in gilt across the front cover, and "THE BOOK OF THE LAW" similarly lettered down the spine. The 6th printing, circa 1989, of the Samuel Weiser edition of "The Book of the Law", which was first published in 1976. The introduction and text have been photo-offset from the 1938 English edition, but incorporate corrections made by the O.T.O. especially for this publication. The title page and adjacent page are exactly as per the 1938 edition, except that the price has been replaced with "SAMUEL WEISER / York Beach, Maine". The introduction, the text of "The Book of the Law ," and the "Tunis Comment" are all drawn from the 1938 edition, although the advertisements are omitted and instead replaced with a facsimile of the original manuscript (Liber XXXI). From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The label can easily be removed without affecting the page, although it would be a shame not to preserve this record of the book's provenance. Covers lightly rubbed overall & with a few light marks, gilt lettering on upper cover partially lacking (probably a stamping flaw), page edges darkened, damp marks to top and fore-edges of the inside of rear cover and final pages. Otherwise a tight unmarked near VG copy. Item #64855
