Top edge gilt. An unusual work, gathering together a series of papers by the author on the calendar systems of the ancient world, and their relation to astronomy. Includes much on Egyptian and Babylonian astronomy, and related myths, as well as material on the astronomy, astrology, and calendars of other ancient civilisations including those of India, China, and Greece. Cloth a bit darkened at spine and outer edges of boards, corners and spine ends bruised and rubbed, page edges a little darkened, endpapers unevenly browned and starting to crack at inner hinges, pages lightly toned but clean and unmarked. Still a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in Good example of the scarce dust jacket. (Dust jacket is darkened and rubbed overall - more so at spine, all edges and points are chafed and creaased, some tears closed on the reverse with acid-free tissue tape, not clipped.
