"Jacob Boehme, 'The Teutonic Philosopher', wrote his Clavis or 'Key' as a condensed explanation of the principal points of his philosophy. ... His Clavis or 'Key' to his writings is taken from the 'William Law' edition, and includes D.A. Freher's 'An Illustration of the Deep Principles of Jacob Behmen', containing 13 emblematic figures. These 13 engravings provide a symbolic picture of Boehme's philosophical system of Creation, and the 'Key' as a whole reveals Boehme's profound spiritual philosophy ..... " (Adam McLean) First issue: the paper on which it is printed is a buff colour, it has a relatively low number in the sequence of limitation, and the binding is a brown with the title lettered down the spine reading "The Key of Jacob Boehme." Boards lightly rubbed, a chemical reaction between the endpapers and the binder's glue has caused some discoloration to the outer margins of the pastedowns and first & last pages (a common occurrence with early volumes in this series), internally clean. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy. Scarce as are all volumes in this series. Item #64971
