Paul Brunton (1898-1981), was a London born mystical philosopher, esotericist, and author, whose many published books include: "A Search in Secret India", "A Search in Secret Egypt", "A Message from Arunachala", "A Hermit in the Himalayas", and "The Quest of the Overself." The present work is basically the author's musing on the meanining of life, the spiritual path, self-discovery, etc. Chapter headings: Prefaratory; What is God?; A Sane Religion; The Mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven; The Seven Beatitudes; Practical Help in Yoga; Psychospiritual Self-Analysis; The Question of Ascetism; The Scripture of the Yogis, I: Renunciation; The Scripture of the Yogis, II Revelation; The Scripture of the Yogis, III: Realization; Errors of the Spiritual Seeker; The Gospel According to St. John; The Mystery of Jesus. This is the first US edition of this volume which was published by Rider of London the same year under the title "The Inner Reality". A well used copy. Cloth darkened & rubbed overall with some light marks - more so at spine, light crease in cloth on rear board (binder's fault), all edges and extremities rubbed with some light bumps, spine ends and corners bruised and well chafed & lightly frayed. Endpapers unevenly darkened, Front free-endpaper excised, owner's details on second blank and notes in pen on rear endpapers. Pages toned and mostly clean - but for about 20-30 which have margin marks, notations, and a few highlights. Still a sound, Good copy for someone wishing a serviceable and inexpensive First Edition.
