Observation d'un cas de médiumnité intellectuelle; Bibliothèque De Philosophie Spiritualiste Moderne Et Des Sciences Psychiques

Paris: Editions Jean Meyer, 1927. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 108pp. Attractive contemporary binding, vellum spine and corners over navy-blue patterned cloth boards, gilt lettered leather spine label. FRENCH TEXT. Originally a softcover, rebound without wrappers, as was typical (indeed intended) with French books of that period. The author, Prof. Rocco Santoliquido (ca.1854-1930) was an Italian scientist and health professional who became the first president of the Institut Métapsychique International, which was founded in 1919 in Paris by Jean Meyer on the initiative of Santoliquido and Gustav Geley. In this thin volume Santoliquido reports on the incident that brought him to Spiritualism, that is a series of messages rapped out on a table in the presence of his niece Louise. The book includes an essay on the subject by Gustav Geley and concludes with an account by Santoliquido of a commemorative seance held after the death of Gustav Geley. Vellum somewhat darkened and discoloured, pages toned. Still overall a tight & clean VG+ copy. Item #65027
