Black leather spine, with gilt titling and raised bands, over fine black cloth boards, gilt title and inverted cross on upper board, marbled endpapers, top edge black, ribbon marker. B&w illustrations, initials and ornamental typographical devices. Edition limited to 1000 numbered copies, most of which were bound in trade cloth. This being one of the scarce copies strikingly bound in quarter leather over fine cloth. Not numbered. A new edition of the Grimoire of Pope Honorius, a rare grimoire of the Middle Ages attributed to Pope Honorius III; the famous papal sorcerer of the Middle Ages. This edition includes the sigils and illustrations known to be associated with this work, as well as spells, summonings, etc., some of which were not available prior to this translation. Text translated by Ms. Kineta Ch'ien from the Old German and with a bibliographic prolegomenon by Mr. John Davis. Appended to the work is a translation of the 15th century Ecclesiastic work, "Coniurationes Demonum", translated from the Latin by Matthew Sullivan. Very light rubbing to rear board else - a tight, clean Fine copy. A lovely copy in one of the more unusual bindings of this edition. Item #65060
