Magick Without Tears.

St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn Publications, 1973. First Edition thus, Second printing. Hardcover. Large octavo. xxxvi+ 522pp. Original blue cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, 4 full-page illustrations. INSCRIBED by Israel Regardie to his friend Thomas Head on the front blank: "5 Feb. 75 / For Thomas Head / Affectionately / Israel Regardie", and with Head's bookplate on front pastedown. Dr. Thomas Head (d. 1999), was a personal friend of Israel Regardie, an avid book collector who was well known for his encyclopedic knowledge - theoretical and practical - of different occult traditions. He was a skilled linguist, and an expert on the Enochian language, and is said to have studied with W. E. Butler, and Dion Fortune, amongst others. More recently from the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The label can easily be removed without affecting the page, although it would be a shame not to preserve this record of the book's provenance. Cloth lightly rubbed with a few faint marks - offset from dust jacket, very light bruising to upper spine, a few faint marks to fore-edge, small abrasion on front pastedown, else a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket has some very light rubbing, creasing and a few small chips and tears to edges, not clipped. Now protected by a removable mylar sleeve). Item #65107
