Boston, MA: S. J. Parkhill & Co., 1900. First Edition. Hardcover. Small octavo. 96pp. Gilt and black decorated brown cloth, gilt titling to spine. Contains quite a potpourri of "wisdom" from recipes to psychological advice and occult instruction. The book is divided into three parts, in the first the author tells her own story of how she became a Medium, and in the second: "Words of Wisdom and Advice", she offers her thoughts on diverse subjects including Love and Marriage, The Occult or Mystic Way of Success in Business, Witchcraft, How to Become a Psychometrist, Bust Developer (!) etc. etc. The third part is a most bizarre collection of recipes, from the conventional ones of the kitchen: Peach Cobbler, Fish Cutlets, etc. to Nerve Tonics, Cures for Rheumatism, the manufacture of indelible ink, etc. A delightful if eccentric volume. Contemporary Rosicrucian Fellowship flyer tipped in at rear. Boards show a little light wear and are gently rubbed at edges and points. Large ink note: "Note Recipes p. 77", otherwise a tight, bright VG+ copy of an intriguing and scarce title. Item #65178
