In two parts: the first part is a detailed account of late nineteenth century efforts to regulate the flow of the Nile, whilst the second part is effectively an anecdotal and historical account of the Sudan as it then was - with chapters on Justice and Slavery, Trade and Commerce etc. Ex-library copy with usual markings, corners and spine edges well rubbed and bumped, lacking front endpaper, six-inch tear to blank edge of fold-out map (map complete), text bright and unmarked.
