A volume from the Secret Doctrine Reference Series which reprints works which were important to Mme. Blavatsky, and upon which she relied or quoted heavily from when writing "The Secret Doctrine." The book is a facsimile of a section of the 1882 translation of the Asvamedha Parvan of the Mahabharata which appeared in the "Sacred Books of the East" series, to which notes and an Index have been added. The translator, Kashinath Trimbak Telang ( 1850 - 1893 ) was an Indologist and Judge in the Bombay High Court.
