An unusual 1950s American reissue of this short study of the Kabbalah by William Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925), one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). In the Preface Westcott refers to the work first being delivered "in the form of lectures to a Society of Hermetic Students in 1888." The society in question was most likely the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which was of course founded in that year. Original distributor's ink stamp to title page. Pages very lightly toned, one or two tiny spots of browning else appears "as new" thus a tight, clean near Fine copy in VG example of the scarce dust jacket. (Dust jacket a bit rubbed and faded at all edges & extremities, original price on front panel blacked out, upper edges & spine lightly chipped, tidy repair on inside at upper front edge, not clipped.
