His Majesty's Fiddler.

Santa Cruz, CA / New York, NY: The Magick Theatre [ Thelema Lodge, OTO ], 1989. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Quarto (11 x 8 1/2 inches). Not paginated [12pp.] Stapled light blue wrappers lettered on front cover and with an illustration of thoughtful seated Crowley on rear cover. A one-act play written by Crowley in Paris in the summer of 1911, when Crowley penned a number of plays which included roles that he had especially written for Leila Waddell. The play remained unpublished during Crowley's lifetime but a typescript survived in the files of J. F. C. Fuller. It was first published by the Magick Theatre published in a volume together with another Crowley play, "The Blind Prophet," in 1988. This edition, released the following year, is believed to be the first separate publication of "His Majesty’s Fiddler." This copy from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Light creases to corners, else clean, near-Fine condition. Quite unusual. Item #66136
