An Old Master. The Art of Aleister Crowley + Separate 'Exhibit Guide'.

London: The O.T.O. in association with the October Gallery Exhition, 1998. First Edition. Softcover. Quarto. A4 size stapled catalogue. 32pp., Dramatically illustrated pictorial wrappers. Printed on quality heavy art paper. A nicely procuced catalogue to serve as the catalogue for the 1998 London exhibition, the first major show of Crowley's art since the 1930s. It includes various photographs of Crowley as well as mostly-colour reproductions of the 40 of his artworks (plus 2 by Frieda Harris and 1 forgery!) which were on display. An example of the original 4-page 'Exhibit Guide' which gives - where known - the titles of the works, the medium in which they were executed; and their then-current owner is loosely inserted. Also inserted is a glossy gatefold brochure about the October Gallery, in which the exhibition was held. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Both the catalogue and the insert appear as new. Thus tight, bright, and unmarked copy - in about Fine condition. Item #66177
