Item #66205 Levogyrate Tantra. Shri Dadaji Gurudev . MAHENDRANATH, Shri Vilasanah, John Power, Shri Gurudev Mahendranath.

Levogyrate Tantra.

Essex UK: Phoenix Publications, 1980. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 18pp. Yellow stapled card covers illustrated and lettered in black, yellow cloth spine, various coloured text pages, b&w illustrations. A highly unusual work by Dadaji: Shri Paramahamsha Mahendranath (born Lawrence Amos Miles: 1911-1991), an Englishman who is said to have had a youthful acquaintance with Aleister Crowley and who in later life embraced Indic religion and Tantrism becoming a guru of the northern Indian Uttarakaula Tantric Order. His teachings fused traditional eastern Tantric with Western magical techniques and went on to form the basis for the Arcane Magical Order of the Knights of Shambhala (AMOOKOS), an occult order founded in 1982 by Michael Magee (Lokanath Maharaj) which gave training to a number of now well-known figures before succumbing to the seemingly inevitable divisions that plague such groups. The "Levogyrate Tantra" is a series of teachings in prose, poetry and aphorism. There is a clear Crowleyan influence to it: not least in such phrases as "The isagogue paramount of the Lords and Ladies of the Arcane Adytum of the Oriental Tantrik Order (O.T.O.)" and a reference to "Astrolabon Argentum (A.A.)", and a general focus on the importance of Will, etc. Light rubbing to covers, light chafing to edges, else a tight, clean VG+ copy. Unusual. Item #66205
