A New and Revised Edition. An Encyclopedia of Freemasonry and Kindred Sciences Comprising the Whole Range of Arts, Sciences and Literature as Connected With the Institution. ( 2 volumes ).

Chicago: The Masonic History Company, 1929. New and Revised Edition. Hardcovers. Large Quartos. Two volume set. (10.25 x 7.5 inches). Consecutively paginated. Volume I, A - K. xx, 1 - 556pp; Volume II, L - Z viii, 556pp - 1155pp. Blue textured boards bordered in black with gilt titling to spine and gilt Masonic device on front board. Each volume has a black and white photographic portrait frontispiece, and a second color plate frontispiece, in Volume I depicting the Three Graces and in Volume II the Four Cardinal Virtues. Various full page plates throughout: several in color, and a number of black and white illustrations in text. An attractive, revised edition of the well-known Encyclopedia of Freemasonry by Masonic scholar and historian Albert G. Mackey (1807 - 1881). Includes a loose single sheet questionnaire, and a 14 page stapled softcover booklet both of which accompanied the set but are generally not present. The booklet is: "The Encyclopedia Handbook - a Guide to Systematic Study of Freemasonry with the Latest Two-Volume edition of Mackey's Encyclopedia as the Textbook" by Robert I. Clegg. Unusually nice condition for a heavy set like this: there is a little rubbing and bumping to the cloth at the heads and tails of the spines, and points, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Original questionnaire stapled to front free endpaper. Overall a tight, clean, VG+ or better set, and hard to find thus. Very large, heavy set - shipping at cost to all destinations. Item #66287
