Original blue cloth spine with gilt lettering over blue papered boards, with 60 full-page drawings by the author and an introduction by A. J. D. Campbell. Sixty pages of plates, on China paper, illustrating the ritual hand positions of Hindu and Buddhist Balinese priests (some plates show just the hands, others the whole person making the gestures), by Swedish artist Tyra De Kleen. Includes a 29 pages Introduction by A. J. D. Campbell, then Assistant-Keeper in the Indian Section of the Victoria and Albert Museum, plus seven pages of explanatory notes for each of the individual drawings. The drawings were originally exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum in 1923. Boards a bit rubbed and darkened, all edges and points chafed with some minor loss at lower front corner and rear fore-edge, spine ends and edges bruised and rubbed, pencilled owner's details on front blank, pages toned but clean and unmarked. Overall a solid clean near VG copy (no dust jacket). Item #66306
