Item #66320 The original holograph draft announcement of the "Word of the Equinox" for September 1937. Aleister CROWLEY.

The original holograph draft announcement of the "Word of the Equinox" for September 1937.

(London): (1937). A holograph document, written in ink on the verso only of a single sheet of 8 x 5 inch notepaper from Ashton's Hotel (London), announcing the "Word of the Equinox" for Autumn 1937. The "Word of The Equinox" was a sort of oracular password sent out by Crowley to all in the A.'. A.'. of Neophyte grade and above, and certain O.T.O. members. It was issued twice a year, at the vernal and autumnal equinoxes, and was a sort of divine portent, usually received by bibliomancy, but sometimes by vision or "direct voice."
At the top of the page is written the Thelemic date "An Ixi Sol in Libra" (September 1937 e.v). It is addressed "Care Frater" (Dear Brother) and begins and ends with the full Thelemic greetings. The text is about twenty words of text, giving the "Word of the Equinox": "Oluk" (written in English and in Hebrew); the "oracle"; and the "omen." It is NOT signed. It seems that this was a "master copy" sent by Crowley to someone in Agape Lodge of the O.T.O., with the intention that they would have it copied and distributed to members within the United States. Like all our material the authenticity of this manuscript item is 100% guaranteed, and it comes with a certificate of authenticity. A few light creases from having been folded for posting, a hint of discoloration, and one or two creases, otherwise VG+ condition. Item #66320
