The "Kashf-ul-Mahjub" ("Revelation of the Veiled") is a system of Sufi doctrines and practices composed by Ali Hujwiri (ca. 1009CE- ca. 1077CE), and is considered to be the "earliest formal treatise" on Sufism in Persian. The translator, R. A. Nicholson (1868 – 1945), was a prominent English scholar of both Islamic literature and Islamic mysticism and was best known for his translations of Rumi.
