New York: Tarcher / Penguin, 2014. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 400pp. Illustrated wrappers. This copy SIGNED by the author on the title page. It is accompanied by a color-printed notice from the "Fine Madness Society" indicating that this was one of only 40 such copies signed by the author at its launch at Treadwells in June 2014. From the publisher: "This definitive work on the occult’s 'Great Beast' traces the arc of his controversial life and influence on rock-and-roll giants, from the Rolling Stones to Led Zeppelin to Black Sabbath." The author, Gary Lachman, was a founder member of the band Blondie, who over the last decade-and-a-half has written or contributed to a large number of popular books on the occult and occultists. This copy comes from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Very light shelf rubbing, price sticker on rear cover - but still a tight, clean VG+ copy. Item #66593
