Moonchild, A Prologue.

Moonchild, A Prologue.

New York, NY: Samuel Weiser Inc., 1970. First Weiser Soft-cover Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 336pp. Cover design by Kip Stagg features a twenties-style line-drawing of a feathered 'flapper' floating past the moon. A paperback edition of Crowley's famous second novel which tells the tale of a young woman caught up in a battle between two magicians, one of whom seeks to use her body as the vessel for the 'birth' in human form of a non-human entity: 'the Moonchild.' From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. A well worn copy. Covers rubbed and chafed, spine creased and worn. Page edges darkened, foxed and thumbed. Pages browned but clean and unmarked. Owner's name and notes on inside front cover, blind seal on half title page. Overall a serviceable but well-used Good+ copy of an uncommon edition As is. Item #66601
