Item #66610 Household Gods. Aleister CROWLEY.

Household Gods.

Santa Cruz, CA / New York, NY: The Magick Theatre [ Thelema Lodge, O.T.O. ], 1990. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Octavo. ( 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) Stapled booklet. 48pp. Pink wrappers illustrated and lettered in black on both covers. Originally published in 1912, this was the first "Magick Theatre" edition - and the first ever reprint - of this play dedicated to Leila Waddell. Crowley wrote that the work "is a sort of magical allegory, full of subtle ironies and mystifications; almost the only thing of its kind I have ever done - which perhaps accounts for my having a sneaking affection for it." This copy is from the library of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Simple "staple and xerox" production values, very light wear and fading to covers, else a tight, clean near Fine copy. Item #66610
