Item #66626 A Man of Letters, to Whom it May Concern. Aleister CROWLEY, Kenneth Grant, Grady L. McMurtry.

A Man of Letters, to Whom it May Concern.

Munich, Germany: Dunkles Zeichen Bucht, (1996 - actually 2006). First Edition Thus. Softcover. Quarto. (12 x 8.5 inches). Eccentrically paginated [ 54pp ], b&w illustrations. Original black metal spiral binding, heavy black transparent plastic cover sheets over pale blue card wrappers which are illustrated and lettered in black on upper cover, and lettered in black on rear cover. Frontispiece in two tones. Edition limited to 31 copies, this being copy No. 7. The volume comprises a selection of (mostly facsimile) letters and documents by Crowley, including the letter appointing Kenneth Grant as head of the O.T.O., which is correctly identified as a fake. Also several letters by Karl Germer. Although attributed to Dunkles Zeichen Bucht (?) and with the copyright year 1996 the series of which this is a part was actually the work of the "enfant terrible" of British Thelemic publishing Richard T. Cole, (author of "Thelema Revisited"; "A Postcard From Hell"; "Liber L. + vel Bogus" etc.) and published in 2006. Cole's skills with Photoshop are evident in some of the photographs, which are not what they appear to be. From the library of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well-known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Pages appear to be printed with a high-quality xerox process. A bright, clean copy in near Fine condition. Obviously uncommon. Item #66626
