Edition limited to 100 hand numbered copies this being No. 20. INSCRIBED & SIGNED: "30.VII.94 c.e. / Best wishes / James Martin." A collection by James M. Martin [Belarion Israfel EL SHADDAI aka Frater Sodomiticus ac Impudicus], (1943-2015). Martin was a writer, gay activist, attorney and founder of a number of occult organizations, including the American Gnostic Church / Ordo Templi Baphe-metis (founded 1985) the Servants of the Star and Snake (founded 1995), and the Sahaja Society, which explored tantric, Kundalini and Sahajayana. He was also the editor and chief contributor to "Abrasax" - a journal largely devoted to gay sex-magick and related issues. In this work Martin collects some 22 pieces on the history and practice of sex-magick, unusually written from both hetero and queer perspectives. Naturally there are a number of references too and explorations of the thoughts and practices of Crowley and various of his followers. Many of the pieces were previously published in journals including "Abrasax", "Chaos International," "Ganymede", etc. etc. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The book is genuinely scarce, and we have been unable to determine whether Martin himself distributed the copies clamped inside the report covers, or whether a later owner added them to this copy. The only references we could find appeared to be to later (pirated?) reprints, which were variously bound but did not have the limitation statement or number on the copyright page. Very light cover wear, simple but better-than-fanzine production values. A tight, clean VG+ copy. Item #66634
