Phoenix. A Journal of the Cosmic People. No. 2.

NP: Privately Published, ND (Circa 1980s). First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. 16pp. Purple staple bound card covers, lettered and illustrated in black on both covers, text printed on various colored sheets. A single issue of this unusual periodical devoted to the work of Dadaji: Shri Paramahamsha Mahendranath (born Lawrence Amos Miles: 1911-1991), an Englishman who is said to have had a youthful acquaintance with Aleister Crowley and who in later life embraced Indic religion and Tantrism becoming a guru of the northern Indian Uttarakaula Tantric Order. His teachings fuse traditional eastern Tantric with Western magical techniques and went on to form the basis for the Arcane Magical Order of the Knights of Shambhala (AMOOKOS), an occult order founded in 1982 by Michael Magee (Lokanath Maharaj) which gave training to a number of now well-known figures before succumbing to the seemingly inevitable divisions that plague such groups. Comprises: Editorial by John Power; "The Scrolls of Mahendranath - A Mold-Matrix Manuscript for Magicians" - with subheadings: The Amoral Way of the Wizard, The Dawn of a new Way of Life, The Hermetic Revelation, Alchemagick for Magicians, The Way of the Cosmos, The Cosmic People of the New Era; "The Creation of Anima-Shakti" by Roy Davies; "Punk Rock Guru Song" by Rosemary Maclean; "The Dreamtime Oracle" by Dadaji 999; "Damnation!" by Dorothy Stewart; and "Prose Poem" by Roy Davies. In the editorial Davies is described as "a magus whose background is in ceremonial magick & particularly that of the Thelematic lineage begun by Aleister Crowley (an early guru of Sri Dadaji). Presumably the print-run was small as copies are seldom seen. A tight clean VG+. Unusual. Item #66725
