Gillette, NJ: Heptangle Books, 1977. Limited edition. Hardcover. Large Octavo. xxvi+ 112 pp. Quarter green cloth w/ patterned papered boards, printed paper title label on spine. The scarce first Heptangle edition, limited to 450 numbered copies. This copy is also SIGNED on the limitation page by the editor. The true Heptangle First edition - letterpress with names and titles printed in red and decorative initials and some designs printed in blue throughout. The text is Driscoll's version of "The Sworn Book of Honorius" (Liber Iuratus Honorii) one of the oldest and most important works of mediaeval magic, supposedly compiled by a group of magicians so that their work would survive them in the event of persecution. While Driscoll's version of the text has not been without its critics, the work was pioneering both in terms of making the text available in English translation, and for the production of a grimoire as a handsomely printed object of virtu. Merest hint of sunning to the spine, points of boards lightly rubbed and a little rounded - as common with this volume - and someone has done a minor tape reinforcement to the top points (this is not at all obvious - in fact we didn't notice it when we bought the volume, and it is only when looking at it closely to catalogue it that it becomes apparent.) Uneven toning to endpapers, a hint of browning to the pages. Still, overall, a tight clean VG+ copy which would be priced more highly were it not for the tiny tape reinforcements. (lacking the flimsy dust jacket). Item #66741
