Item #66884 Malleus Maleficarum. Heinrich KRAMER, James Sprenger. Translated, Bibliography an Introduction, the Rev. Montague Summers.
Malleus Maleficarum.

Malleus Maleficarum.

London: The Pushkin Press, 1951. Reprint. Hardcover. Octavo. xxii + 278 pp. Original deep red cloth, gilt title, etc. to spine, double column text, frontis. An attractive reprint of the 1928 Montague Summers / Rodker edition of the "Malleus Maleficarum." The "Malleus Maleficarum" was arguably the most infamous text in the witch-hunters canon, comprising a considerable collection of - often highly dubious - witch lore and myth, but it nevertheless became the standard reference work for the inquisitors and judges of the witch trials. This Pushkin Press reduced format edition of the 1928 Rodker edition was first published in 1948 - this copy is a second printing from 1951. Just a hint of general shelfwear, spine ends and corners very lightly bumped, pages toned, internall bright and clean. Overall a tight, unmarked VG+ copy (no dust jacket). Item #66884
