Berlin-Halensee: Buchhandlung für Religions- und Geisteswissenschaften, (ca. 1930). 2 Auflage. Hardcover. large octavo. (8 5/8 x 6 7/8 inches) 214pp (+ii). Original blue pebbled cloth spine with printed paper cover affixed to upper board, b&w illustrations. GERMAN TEXT. By Heinrich Tränker (1880 - 1956) the German bookseller, publisher and occultist who founded the Pansophische Lodge in Berlin and was appointed X°-degree O.T.O. for Germany by Theodur Reuss. Tränker was involved in the esoteric publishing venture Pansophia with Karl Germer in the early 1920s and was clearly impressed with Aleister Crowley's teachings, a number of which were published in translation under the Pansophia imprint. He also invited Crowley to visit him at his house at Hohenleuben in Weida; which he did in 1925, and for a time embraced Crowley's teachings, although the two soon fell out in disputed circumstances. Contents. I. Teil: Die pansophische Erweckung. II. Teil: Die pansophische Schule. III. Teil: Die pansophische Akademie; Der Pansophische Akademie, Erster Grad "Die Alchemie," oder die erste Stufe der Praxis; Der 'Pansophischen Akademie' Zweiter Grad: Die Astrologie; Der 'Pansophischen Akademie' Dritter Grad: Die Kabbala: Die Einheit. Das Eine. Die Eins; Der 'Pansophischen Akademie' Vierter Grad: Die Magia; Der Mystischefeurscein ist... A work first published in 1925. This second edition (ca. 1930) adds a short note at the front by "Waltharius" (Walter Studinski) but omits the woodcut frontispiece and the appendix "Pansophischer Orient Nr. 1" (which included several publisher's notices concerning the Collegium pansophicum and a translation into German of "The Message of the Master Therion") that could be found in the rear of the first edition. Although this second edition is perhaps more Rosicrucian than Thelemic in overall outlook, and was clearly published after Tränker and Crowley fell out, the core material of the work appears to be the same as that of the first edition, and has a number of references to the aeon of Horus, etc. including a rather interesting diagram with "Wille / Thelema / Liebe" [Will, Thelema, Love] as its center focus on p. 156. Most recently from the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book- label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Light rubbing to boards, rear board flecked, cloth a little rubbed at head and tail of spine, a few inked numerals on first and last leaves. Occasional contemporary marginalia and underlining, one leaf reinforced at inner margin with old tape repair. Clearly used, but otherwise a solid VG copy (no dust jacket issued). Item #67046
