The first edition of Regardie's selection of Crowley's most important writings - 'all the magical writings' including of course Liber CCXX, "The Book of the Law" - from the monumental "Equinox" series. The book was published at a time when Crowley's magical writings were unavailable to most: the ten volume "Equinox" set had only been republished by Weiser for the first time two years earlier, and was difficult to find and beyond the budget of most. "Gems" along with the reprints of "Magick in Theory Practice," became one of the core resources for the emerging new generation of Thelemites in the 1970s.
