Item #67081 The Book of Thoth. A Short Essay on the Tarot of the Egyptians. Being The Equinox Volume III No. V. Aleister CROWLEY, Frieda Harris.

The Book of Thoth. A Short Essay on the Tarot of the Egyptians. Being The Equinox Volume III No. V.

San Francisco, CA: Level Press, 1974. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Octavo. xii + 288 pp. Printed card covers. One of the first popular editions of Crowley's masterwork on the tarot, with black and white reproductions of the card designs by Frieda Harris. Published by the Level Press, who produced a number of Crowley works in the late 1960s through the 1970s. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Bottom corners bruised, covers a little darkened and with partial "cup-ring" to front cover, page edges a bit darkened and with a tea stain to lower fore-edge that just bleeds through into some of the margins. Overall a tight, VG copy of a somewhat scarce edition of Crowley's important work on the tarot. Item #67081
