Item #67131 Konx Om Pax. Essays in Light. Aleister CROWLEY.

Konx Om Pax. Essays in Light.

[ San Francisco? ]: NP [ Level Press?], ND [ circa 1974 ]. Facsimile edition. Softcover. Small octavo. 110pp + 12pp of adverts. Pale pink wrappers with deep pink lettering to upper cover. Although no date or publisher is specified, some sources suggest that this edition was produced by the Level Press in 1974 whereas others date it to 1980. The psychedelic typeface on the front cover would seem to suggest that the earlier dating is correct as it is far more "sixties" then "eighties." The text is a facsimile reprint of that of the 1907 edition. "Konx Om Pax" is a collection of poetry, plays and essays and was clearly one of Crowley's own favorite works. He wrote glowingly of it in his 'Confessions', in particular describing the final essay 'The Stone of the Philosophers' as being "really beyond praise." From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Covers a bit shelf worn and darkened, edges chafed, period Atlantis Bookshop label inside front cover, pages edges a bit darkened and lightly thumbed. Still overall a tight, unmarked near VG copy.
