Pentagram Man and His Quest. Number Seven, New Series. Autumn 1967. [ "Roll Away the Stone" ].

London: Pentagram, 1967. First Edition. Softcover. Octavo. Periodical. 44pp (Eccentrically paginated). Original printed wrappers. A single issue of this magazine which generally included multiple contributors - although this issue is devoted solely to Israel Regardie's "Roll Away the Stone, an Introduction to Aleister Crowley's essays on the Psychology of Hashish" and which was published in its entirety by Llewellyn the following year. This copy was originally from the library of English book-collector and Crowley scholar Nicholas Bishop-Culpeper and includes a typed, signed letter from Editor, Gerard Noel on Pentagram letterhead to Bishop-Culpeper, along with a hand written letter from him to Bishop-Culpeper outlining his rather eccentric subscription methods (he did not take subscriptions as such, but sent out copies to people on his mailing list, and if they sent him payment, he would send them the next copy when it came out, and if they sent him payment .... etc.). Also a handwritten note from Bishop-Culpeper to Noel asking to be put on the list. It is more recently from the library of from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. The label can easily be removed without affecting the page, although it would be a shame not to preserve this record of the book's provenance. Covers lightly rubbed and darkened at edges, else a tight clean VG + copy with an interesting provenance. Item #67146
