Moonchild ( The Dennis Wheatley Library of the Occult series, Vol. 3 ).

London: Sphere Books, 1974. Reprint. Softcover. Small octavo. 302pp. + 1 page advert. Pocket-sized paperback, illustrated covers. The second Sphere Books printing (the first was 1972) of Crowley's famous second novel which tells the tale of a young woman caught up in a battle between two magicians, one of whom seeks to use her body as the vessel for the 'birth' in human form of a non-human entity: "the Moonchild" of the title. The character of "Cyril Grey" is a somewhat idealised self-portrait of Crowley, as is perhaps also that of "Simon Iff." This paperback was Vol. 3 of the popular "Dennis Wheatley Library of the Occult series." From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Light ordinary shelfwear typical for a paperback of that vintage, spine creased, pages a bit browned as common, no markings. Overall a tight, clean VG copy. Item #67147
