Clouds without Water.

A modern softcover reprint of a book of poetry that Crowley originally published semi-clandestinely in 1909 with Renouard of Paris (who had earlier published Crowley's homo-erotic parody, the 'Bagh-I-Muattar'). The poetry has some erotic undertones - which presumably explains why Crowley playfully published it under the name of a fictitious Priest "The Rev. C. Verey" and had the words "Privately Printed for Circulation Amongst Ministers of Religion" printed on the title page of the original edition. The "Yogi Publication Society" reprints are undated, but those of "Clouds without Water" with white covers are known to precede those with red covers. This particular example was bought by Clive Harper in 1979 and is therefore obviously of earlier date. From the collection of Clive Harper with a small ink stamp of his name and penciled acquisition date on the inside front cover, and a discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Light rubbing to covers which are a little darkened, light bump to top corner, pages lightly toned - but still a clean and unmarked VG+ copy. Item #67169
