Item #67172 Magick Without Tears. Aleister CROWLEY, Israel Regardie.

Magick Without Tears.

St. Paul, MN: Llewellyn Publications, 1973. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Large thick octavo. xxxvi+ 522 pp. Original blue cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine, 4 full-page illustrations. Crowley had originally intended to entitle this book 'Aleister Explains Everything' - it is in essence his personal commentary on his own magical work and training - in the form of 80 letters addressed to students. It is without doubt one of his most straightforward, and lucid expositions of Magick. It was first published by Crowley's follower, Karl Germer, in an edition that almost certainly did not exceed 100 copies. This new edition includes Germer's original foreword, and a new Introduction by Israel Regardie, who also edited the text, removing some material he felt to be redundant. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear and small name-stamp on the front pastedown. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Very light bruising to corners and spine ends, page edges darkened and lightly thumbed, pages toned but fresh and unmarked. Overall a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket (Dust jacket a bit chafed and creased at upper spine, corners and folds, not price clipped. Now in mylar cover). Item #67172
