Original matching olive green cloth, gilt titling to spine and upper boards, blind rules to upper boards. Index. A translation into English of the works of the Hellenistic philosopher Plotinos (204/5 – 270 C.E.), who is generally characterised as the father of Neoplatonism. The translator, Kenneth Sylvan Guthrie (1871-1940), was a mystical philosopher and author who is most widely remembered on account of this and other translations of ancient philosophical writers, particularly those of the Neoplatonists. Light uniform shelf wear, edges and points a little rubbed, spine ends bruised and rubbed. One inch abrasion to the cloth on the top-edge of the front board of Vol. IV. Edges of text block & endpapers darkened and a little foxed, pages toned with some light scattered foxing & browning, text pages clean. Overall a tight, better thank VG example of this uncommon set.
