The first US edition of Dion Fortune's work on Glastonbury which was originally published in England in 1934. From the publisher: "A description of Glastonbury that remains one of the most evocative and poignant accounts of this wild yet holy place; a power center polarizing with distant Jerusalem and linking and harmonizing the Christian way with the primeval and pagan past of England." Small gold address label of the astrologer Dorothy Beach Hughes, founder of the Seattle Astrological Association on the front blank. Hughes was keenly interested in Dion Fortune and published small typescript-style editions of two of her works: "Through the Gates of Death" (1966) and "The Training and Work of an Initiate" (1967), apparently with the approval of the Society of Inner Light. Just a hint of shelf wear, bruising to spine ends, bookshop label on front blank - else a lovely clean near Fine copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket ligthly worn at edges, not clipped.
