Item #67343 Numbers. Their Occult Power and Mystic Virtues. W. Wynn WESTCOTT.

Numbers. Their Occult Power and Mystic Virtues.

Philadelphia, PA: David McKay Company, 1934. Third edition - reprint. Hardcover. Small octavo. 124pp, iv publisher's adverts. Navy coth with gilt lettering. The third edition of Westcott's study of the Kabbalah. The book was first published as a small, thin quarto in 1890, Westcott then revised and expanded it considerably, and published a second edition as the ninth volume of the "Collectanea Hermetica" series of which he was the editor, in 1902. W. Wynn Westcott (1848 – 1925) was of course one of the founders of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, Supreme Magus of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (SRIA), and Master of Quatuor Coronati Lodge (the well-known London Masonic Lodge devoted to Masonic research). While this is a stated "third edition" it is actually a reprint of the third edition, which was first published in 1911. Just a hint of shelfwear, corners and spine ends lightly bruised, a few light pencil notation on front blank endpaper, else a tight, clean VG+ copy in a VG example of the scarce dust jacket. (Dust jacket a bit darkened and discoloured with some light overall shelf wear, edges and folds a little chafed, light chipping at upper spine, not clipped. Now in proctected mylar cover). An attractive edition, uncommon in dust jacket. Item #67343
