Item #67374 Yeats's Golden Dawn. George Mills HARPER, W B. Yeats.

Yeats's Golden Dawn.

London: MacMillan, 1974. First UK Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. x + 322pp. Black cloth with gilt title etc to spine, notes, appendices and index. A study of Yeats's involvement in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and its effect on his life and writings. Drawn from - and reproducing - much then unpublished material; includes a list of the contents of Westcott's Hermetic Library. Yeats famously clashed with Aleister Crowley over the direction in which the Order should go, culminating in the "battle of Blythe Road" and a significant fracture in the group. Light bumps and bruising to corners and spine ends, page edges a little darkened and fore-edge a bit thumbed, otherwise a tight, unmarked VG+ copy in better-than VG dust jacket (Dust jacket lightly rubbed and scratched, light edgewear and creasing, inner flaps slightly browned with some discolouration to front inner flap, price clipped. Now in protective mylar cover.). Item #67374
