W. B. Yeats and Occultism; A Study of his Works in Relation to Indian Lore, the Cabbala, Swedenborg, Boehme and Theosophy.

New York, NY: Samuel Weiser, 1974. First US Edition. Hardcover.Octavo. xxii + 296pp. Original red cloth, gilt titling to spine, b&w illustrations, appendixes, fold-out, index. The first American edition of this unusual Indian study of the literature of Yeats, and its relation to his occult beliefs and practices. Interestingly the references to the Golden Dawn are relatively few - the author apparently finding that the works of Boehme, Swedenborg, various Theosophists etc had a greater impact on Yeats' actual writings than they did. Cloth lightly shelfworn, faded at edges of boards and spine, light bump to corners and spine ends owner's name in pencil at lower edge of front pastedown, glue residue on endpapers at inner hinges, page edges darkened and pages a bit toned, but otherwise a solid and unmarked VG copy in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket is a bit worn overall, edges chafed and chipped with a few tears and larger chips, acid-free tape repairs to reverse. Price clipped. Now in protective mylar sleeve). Item #67382
