Item #67680 Aleister Crowley: Selected Poems. Aleister. Edited and CROWLEY, Martin Booth.

Aleister Crowley: Selected Poems.

Great Britain: Crucible, 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 206pp. Original light green cloth with gilt title, etc. to spine. The first selection of Aleister Crowley's poetry to be published by a mainstream modern publisher. The editor, Martin Booth (1944 – 2004), was a distinguished poet, novelist, and general man-of-letters who was shortlisted for the 1998 Booker Prize. He also wrote "A Magick Life. A Biography of Aleister Crowley," which was published in 2000. It is said that hardback copies of the "Selected Poems" were only made available to libraries, which would explain their comparative scarcity. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. A few faint marks to light coloured cloth, upper corners and spine ends bruised, otherwise a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket. (Dust jacket very lightly rubbed at edges, not clipped, now in protective mylar cover). Item #67680
