Item #67742 The Key of the Mysteries. Eliphas LEVI, Aleister Crowley.

The Key of the Mysteries.

London: Rider & Co., 1969. Second Impression. Softcover. Octavo (8 1/4 x 5 1/4) 216pp. Printed glossy wrappers. B&w illustrations, index. Described by Aleister Crowley as representing the "high water mark" of Levi's thought. Crowley's translation was first published in book-form by Rider in 1959, and then released in paperback edition in 1969. The book obviously sold well, as this second impression was released in may of that same year. From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Covers lightly rubbed and lightly rubbed, and laminate starting to lift at edges. Half-title page has been removed, so the book opens straight onto the title-page. A little light foxing to inside covers and edges of text-block. A tight G+ copy. (Note: what looks like discoloration in the accompanying photograph is simply reflection from the shiny cover).
