The Equinox: Volume III Number 10. The Review of Scientific Illuminism. The Official Organ of the O.T.O.

York Beach, Maine: Samuel Weiser, Inc., 1990. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Large Octavo. Glossy wrappers. 288pp. Illustrations. This copy INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the editor, Hymenaeus Beta, to Clive Harper on the half title page. "For Brother Clive / whose unending / mania for completeness / is an example for us all / 93 93/93 / [Eleven-fold cross] [signed] Hymenaeus Beta." The volume contains a wealth of introductory and other documents pertaining to the O.T.O.; a history of the Order after Crowley's death (including an account of the legal dispute with Marcelo Motta), and various works of magical instruction, poetry, essays etc., as well as a study of the films of Kenneth Anger with a filmography. The bibliographic history of the volume appears a bit murky - it has "First Paperback Edition" printed on the verso of the title-page but "Revised Second Printing" on the recto. As far as we can ascertain it is in fact a (corrected?) "second printing" of the work which was originally published in a number of different formats under the Thelema Publications imprint in 1986, and thus the "second paperback edition", or "first Weiser edition"! From the collection of Clive Harper with his discrete book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. A hint of shelf-wear, otherwise a bright, clean, Near-Fine copy. Item #67747
