Original cloth, gilt-lettered on spine & front board, with gilt cross in red pyramid design on front board. Volume Six (only) of the "White Cross Library" series of books by Mulford which dealt with mental powers / thought currents and how to train and use them. Chapter headings of this volume: Woman's Real Power; Love Thyself; About Prentice Mulford; Mental Medicine; Prayer in all Ages; The Attraction Of Aspiration; Cultivate Repose; Good And Ill Effects Of Thought; Buried Talents; The Power of Honesty; Confession; The Accession of New Thought California author Prentice Mulford (1834–1891) was a noted literary humorist and pioneer of the New Thought movement who wrote essays and poetry as well as a number of books on mental/spiritual laws such as the series of which this volume is a part. A little rubbing to cloth, spine ends and corners and edges bruised and chafed, page edges darkened, inkstamp and abrasions with some loss of front pastedown from bookplate removal, front endpaper hinge cracked and appears to have been rather crudely reglued. Page edges thumbed, a few small chips and creases to page edges. Obviously well used but still a solid, serviceable Good + copy. (no dust jacket - probably none called for). Early printings of volumes from this series becoming scarce. Item #67814
