A hardcover reprint of the University Books edition of Gould's "Oddities". Rupert Thomas Gould (1890 – 1948), was a lieutenant commander in the British Royal Navy who authored a number of books on mythical creatures, among other subjects. This is a reprint edition of Gould's look at many unexplained events including Nostradamus' prophecies, the wizard of Mauritius, Messene's numbers, the wheel of Orffyreus, among many others. Light shelf wear, minor bruising corners, page edges darkened and pages a bit toned and a small brown spot about the size of a cigarette end on first blank, otherwise clean and unmarked, old "Flying Saucer News" ink stamp on lower edge of title page. Overall a tight VG copy in Good dust jacket (Dust jacket a bit shelfworn overall, edges chafed and lightly chipped, spine sunned, clipped. Now in mylar cover). Item #67943
