The Tantric Tradition. Agehananda BHARATI.

The Tantric Tradition.

London: Rider, 1965. First Edition. Hardcover. Octavo. 350pp. Maroon cloth with gilt titling to spine; bibliographical selections, index. Certainly one of the sanest and most important late twentieth century works on tantra. During a long and eventful career the author, Viennese-born Leopold Fischer (1923 – 1991), took the monastic name Agehananda Bharati, which he also used as a nom-de-plume. He was variously a warrior, a monk, and a professor of Anthropology, academic Sanskritist, and a writer on religious subjects, whose many works included "The Ochre Robe" and "The Light at the Center: Context and Pretext of Modern Mysticism." A little light shelf-wear, overall a tight, clean VG+ copy in VG+ dust jacket (Dust jacket a bit darkened and with a few marks to rear panel, light chafing and a few short tears to edges, clipped. Now in protective mylar cover). Item #68133
