Hasheesh: The Herb Dangerous Volume I. High Writings of Aleister Crowley and Other Celebrated Haschischins of the Early Twentieth Century.

San Francisco, CA: Level Press, ND [ Copyright 1974 ]. First Edition thus. Softcover. Octavo. Not paginated. Approx 175pp. Illustrated white wrappers lettered in black and white, b&w illustrations. A collection of drug writings by Crowley and others reprinted from The Equinox, along with an excerpt from Pearls, Arms and Hashish by De Monfreid. This copy from the collection of Clive Harper with his discreet book-label neatly tipped in at the rear. Harper is well- known as the bibliographer of Austin Osman Spare, for updating the Aleister Crowley bibliography in the 2011 Teitan Press collection of Gerald Yorke's writings, and as someone who has lent his expertise to numerous other publications. Some significant - but not highly visible - abrasions to the front cover, general light shelf-wear. Page edges darkened, pages lightly toned but unmarked, internally bright and clean. An about VG copy of a book that is quite scarce because of its inherent fragility - and which will have to be handled with care if it is to stay intact. Scarce. Item #68216
