Thelemic Magick Unexpurgated. Commented. Part 1 Being The Oriflamme Volume VI, Number 5.

Rio de Janeiro, Brasil: Society Ordo Templi Orientis in Brasil, 1987. First Edition Thus. Softcover. Octavo. xliv + 420 pp. Original printed wrappers with "Censored" labels pasted on the front and back wrappers and spine (as issued). Color Plate. Index. Comprises Chapters I- XII of Crowley's "Magick in Theory and Practice," along with Motta's notes and commentary, and an extensive (74 page) "reference index." A further 150 + pages are devoted to Motta's controversial "History of the O.T.O. Since Crowley's Death" (Part III); then an "O.T.O. News" section in which Motta makes venemous comments about virtually everyone associated with Thelema since Crowley's death, and finally a selection of typically acerbic "reviews." This is one of the scarce copies of the book on which Motta had "censored" labels pasted, in protest at a decision by a US court which rejected his Society Ordo Templi Orientis's claim to be holders of the O.T.O copyrights, and therefore denied them the right to use its seals and marks. This copy has large "Censored by the U.S. Government" labels pasted on the front and back covers, a small "Censored" label on he spine, a large "Censored by the U.S. Government" label pasted over the O.T.O. lamen facing the title page, and smaller "Censored" labels on the title page, the verso of the title page, and one the sections titles. A little light shelf-wear, very light rubbing to edges. Otherwise a Near fine copy of an unusual and highly controversial book. Item #68232
